Patrick Huie
Patrick Huie is a recent alumnus of Johns Hopkins University, awarded with B.S. degrees in Computer Engineering and Applied Math. Patrick came to Hopkins with the intent of becoming an inventor in the life sciences and pursuing a path in translational research, and was mentored in the design and production of clinical medical devices by Dr. Ralph Etienne-Cummings. In order to explore how mature businesses are built around healthcare products, Patrick joined A-Level and quickly fell in love with early stage startups and venture investing. He developed his interest in business development and operations as the Executive Director of Medhacks, the world’s largest healthcare hackathon, forging partnerships with multiple Fortune 500 companies and striking sponsorship deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. During this time, he also continued to develop his technical expertise by working in data science, software engineering, and product management at Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Medtronic. Patrick culminated his exploration of strategy roles in healthcare as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst with Evercore’s Healthcare M&A practice in Menlo Park, working closely with small and mid-cap biotech clients. Patrick served as Managing Partner at A-Level during the 2020 - 2021 academic year, and his representative investments include Swayable. In his free time, Patrick enjoys staying up to date on healthcare and fintech news, reading books on history and psychology, and staying fit.
