The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Finance and play a key role in setting up the scalable structure and processes necessary to optimize growth of the accounting function.


Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including A/P, A/R, GL and bank reconciliation

  • Participate in the monthly close process and ensure timely and accurate financial statement preparation in QuickBooks Online in accordance with U.S. GAAP

  • Manage the transition to U.S. GAAP, including implementation of ASC606 and preparation for our first full year audit

  • Draft, maintain and update internal control documentation and support audits of related controls

  • Partner with various departments to design system enhancements and process changes

  • Review client contracts, pricing policies and promotions to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606

  • Provide guidance to Negotiatus leadership on implications related to the adoption of new accounting standards

  • Provide oversight and training to junior accounting staff


Qualifications

About you:

  • You are an accounting professional with 5-7 years of experience, ideally a combination of Big 4 and high growth startup experience (1-2 years of management experience preferred; SaaS and/or fintech experience an added plus)

  • You have experience managing the financial close, including review, reconciliation and preparation of P&L, BS and CF statement accounts

  • You are an expert with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. You have experience with Salesforce, Stripe and Avalara

  • You possess deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP reporting standards, including hands-on experience of managing GAAP conversion and successful oversight of financial statement audits

  • You are a resourceful, team-focused professional who is proactive about process improvement and automation

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (active or inactive) is preferred

  • ERP implementation and financial statement consolidation experience a plus
